In rural villages like Sahasram of Eastern Nepal, men have migrated to look for work leaving women the responsibility to take the lead at home and manage the farms.
Women farmers depend on dairy and agriculture for their own consumption.
But they rarely make any income out of it.
Some women choose to walk 2-3 hours to the urban markets every morning
Then they spend the next few hours hoping to meet a buyer
Nobody wants to return with unsold milk, so farmers are forced to sell at desperately low prices
keeping them trapped under the poverty line.
